ResponsibilitiesAs General Manager of JMP Automation, my responsibilities include developing the company’s vision and strategy, product and service offerings, team capabilities, execution and overall administration.
JMP Automation’s mandate is to serve our customers by improving their profitability, flexibility and agility of their manufacturing operations. Our proven, award winning automation solutions reduce manufacturers’ operating costs, increase their production capacities and improve the quality of their processes.
BackgroundGrowing up on a cash-crop farm in Southern Ontario, I learned early in life the value of hard work and responsibility. I also had a passion for anything mechanical. Engineering was a great way to bring those passions together.
As a co-op student in university, I was privileged to work at leading Fortune 500 companies like Magna, General Motors and Siemens. Throughout those experiences, I gained the fundamentals in manufacturing and learned how automation was the key to success in building world-class products competitively in North America.
After graduating, I joined JMP Engineering, focusing on advanced motion control systems. We had a belief that cutting-edge technology didn’t need to be complicated. It could be deployed in a way that was simple to operate, maintain, and troubleshoot. The approach resonated with manufacturers who, at the time, found this technology new, intimidating, and sometimes overwhelming. It was this experience that taught me how to bridge that gap between technology and people and help my client’s teams embrace change. I learned how to educate clients, break-down paradigms, and gain alignment to make the adaptation of a new technology or process a success.
After six years, I was asked to develop the Automation division within JMP. Since our humble beginnings just a few years ago, we have become a leading supplier of Automation solutions for Tube and Pipe, Food, Machining and Consumer Products industries with clients across North America and around the world. We also hold several patents for solutions, applications and technologies we have developed in these industries. The key to our success today still remains same – keep things practical. Our solutions leverage proven-off-the-shelf technologies that are simple, reliable and easily supported.
